In Washington, beaches are privately owned. This can present many opportunities for harvesting and seeding of clams and oysters.
How does it work? We meet with interested owners to discuss the options for their tidelands. Productive beaches generate revenue for our owners, at no cost to them. We apply for all the necessary licenses and also develop management plans with any affected Treaty Tribes.
We manage the tidelands in a way that is mutually beneficial for all parties and always keep the health of the beach in mind.
